Running is going well, had a couple of really good weeks, covering a lot of miles, last week especially was hard comprising of a 13 on the Saturday and an absurdly rainy day and a very tough 10 mile off road race in Radcliffe the next day. I really enjoyed Radcliffe always a great atmosphere in off road runs everyone encouraging each other and pushing each other on.
I got around in 1.19. , which placed me quite well in the overall results, again superhuman winning time of 58 minutes, but happy with my pace, as some of the hills were nuts, As can be seen in this "interesting picture of me. (Still always look like a complete tit in every picture)
I did, though pick up an injury to my calf last weekend,, I ran a 7.6 on Wednesday after some physio. Bought some Hilly compression socks and was due to run a 20 on Saturday. Couldn’t do this as was forgot I was duty solicitor in my local court, sod’s law, nothing came in. I then went and ran my local Parkrun at Woodbank in Stockport, really chuffed at knocking 14 seconds off my PB to run a 21.58 (my target for the year was to run a sub 22 !) .
Calf was still a bit sore but got up early this morning and ran 20 miles in 2 hours 47 on a very hilly course. Calf still a bit sore but got my hillys back on and am going to relax and watch the 6 Nations this afternoon.
P.S. A massive shout out to my incredible (and slightly mad) big brother Mark, who despite being quite badly last injured and falling twice in the race ran 40 miles of his 100 miler ultra- endurance race last Sunday, having already ran this distance twice before ! ! ! 40 miles is outstanding for someone without an injury, but to do that not being anywhere near fitness and falling twice is breathtaking. Much, much respect Marky.
